ASBE8: extended deadlines and early career scientist bursaries
The deadlines for abstract submission and early bird registration for the Applied Synthetic Biology in Europe (ASBE Conference) have been extended to 16 August 2026.
Submit your abstract and register before the deadline to benefit from the reduced registration fee.
In addition, we offer early career bursaries supported by the Federation of European Microbiological Societies (FEMS) and the EFB Bioengineering and Bioprocessing Division and the EFB Microbial Biotechnology Division. Bursary application deadline: 16 August 2026
ASBE8 will take place on 4–6 November 2026 in Manchester, UK.

As ECB2026 comes to a close, we would like to thank everyone who contributed to its success.
We are grateful to all delegates, speakers, session chairs and exhibitors for making the Congress a meeting point for the biotechnology community, with participants from every continent.

PYFF9 Conference
The countdown to the 9th Conference on Physiology of Yeasts and Filamentous Fungi (PYFF9) has begun, and we look forward to welcoming the fungal biotechnology community to Valencia on 8–11 September 2026.
The conference has attracted strong interest from both academia and industry, reflected in the number and quality of abstract submissions and a programme featuring leading speakers and sessions covering fungal physiology, synthetic biology, fermentation, cell factories, AI and the circular bioeconomy.
Although registration is now closed, a waiting list has been opened. Should places become available due to cancellations, they will be offered to people on the waiting list.

Food Biotech: poster submission still open until 10 August
Although the deadline for oral presentations has passed, there is still an opportunity to submit a poster for the Food Biotechnology Conference, taking place on 8–9 September 2026 in Sion, Switzerland.
The conference brings together geneticists, data scientists, agriculturalists and regulatory policymakers who rarely share the same room. We invite you to join this essential multidisciplinary dialogue to actively shape the future of global food systems.
If you would like to present your work and be part of this multidisciplinary meeting, poster submissions remain open.

Research Projects at Palacký University
The PLANTONICS project, led by Nuria De Diego from CATRIN and funded by an ERC CZ grant, will establish the field of plant theranostics. The project will combine diagnostic and therapeutic approaches to improve plant resilience by addressing both biotic stresses, such as pests and diseases, and abiotic stresses, including drought, heat, and nutrient deficiency.
